I posted one new article on Ehow in December and nothing in January, but my earnings were still on target. Here are my earnings since the last update:
November 2009 (10 new articles submitted) - $277.08
December 2009 (1 new article submitted) - $272.27
January 2010 (0 new articles submitted) - $300.51, including "compensation" from the UK site
February 2010 (7 new articles submitted) - 267.89
So, as you can see, my earnings have stayed about the same (a little less in February, since it's a short month) throughout the past few months with very few new articles submitted. I've heard grumblings that many people felt their earnings dropped because of articles displayed on the eHow UK site, but I didn't experience a decrease. In fact, my earnings actually went up a bit.
In total, I've earned $2,549.82 over the past year on eHow, including a $50 bonus when one of my articles was featured on the homepage last summer. With 188 articles at the time of this writing, five of which are brand new, that's an average of $13.56 per article. I'm quite happy with that, considering I make less per article writing for WiseGEEK. I have one article that's made over $250 and others that have only made a few bucks, but it all works out in the end. All in all, eHow is well worth the time and effort I've spent.
I still receive about $30 per month from Bukisa, $50 per month from Suite 101 and about $100 per month in Adsense revenue, although I'm working on increasing that. Last month was my best Adsense month ever and my ultimate goal is to make a full time income from various niche blogs, but I think that's probably still several years away. Unfortunately, I must write for DS during the day to pay the bills, but I'm working on it.
I've found several more lucrative writing opportunities that I plan to feature on the blog in the coming days, so check back for those. I may be late to the party, but hopefully I can point some of my readers in the right direction. I hope to make more time for this blog, but I can't promise regular posting. Sometimes, I suffer from burn-out with all the content writing I do and I just have to take a break for a while. I'm back for the time being, at least until I can't find any more writing sites to blog about. :)
I'll try to answer the most important comments from the past several months, but I won't be able to get to all of them and if you've sent an email, I apologize that I haven't answered. I plan on going through my inbox over the next few days. Thanks for your understanding!
Goals for 2010
My goals for 2010 include creating at least five profitable niche blogs, increasing my eHow earnings by at least $100 per month and decreasing my reliance on upfront pay. I also plan to update this blog as necessary, since some of the sites I reviewed long ago have made significant changes to pay scale and structure.
I'd love to hear from you, dear readers. What are your goals for this year and how have you begun to realize them? How have your eHow earnings fared since the UK site debacle? Anything else you'd like to share? I look forward to hearing from you!
