Once you sign up for your free Niner Niner account, you'll be taken to your homepage which lists all of the blogs available. You can choose any of them and post as much as you like. The posts must be at least 150 words and they must be original content.
There are a wide variety of blogs available, on topics such as public health, parenting, books, credit, money, mortgages, gadgets, business, healthy living, SEO, autism, cooking, music and more.
There are basically NO requirements for joining. You can create an account in about thirty seconds and have access to begin writing. International writers are accepted, as well, which is a plus because not many sites of this type hire internationally, and the pay may appear better to people outside of America.
How Much Does Niner Niner Pay?
Okay, now we're getting to the good stuff, or in the case of Niner Niner, the bad stuff. The payment structure is DISMAL. I couldn't believe how little this site pays for original content. I looked through some of the blogs to see what type of writing they're buying for these rates and the old adage holds true - you get what you pay for. What really broke my heart is that I saw many well written articles mixed in with the crap, and I can't believe writers would sell their content for so little.
So what do they pay? Anywhere from .10 to .50 PER POST. No, that's not a typo, folks. These people really buy your content for ten to fifty cents!!
Okay, I know that there was a time in my life when I may have actually sold some content to this site, before I knew how much money I could really make writing, so I don't blame the writers. However, I do despise this site for taking advantage of their writers and exploiting them like this. I'll bet Niner Niner makes a fortune off of this content, or at least a heck of alot more than a dime per post!
That being said, I don't think it would be too bad for international writers where .50 is worth a lot more and legitimate writing jobs are hard to come by. I also don't think it would be too bad if you were really bored and wanted to make some extra money spouting off 150 words very quickly. But, just to put this in perspective for you, Demand Studios pays $5.00 for 150 words!
Pay is via PayPal every month once your balance exceeds $25.00. This means you'd need to write 50 posts to reach the payout each month. Again, as a comparison, if you wrote 50 articles of the same length for Demand Studios, you'd make $250.
Rights, Support, and Other Stuff
I could find no information on the website regarding the rights to your content, but since Niner Niner does not accept previously published material, I'm willing to bet that they purchase full rights to the posts. However, I could be wrong on this, so don't take my word for it.
The sites has a very small (miniscule) FAQ section that gives info on word count, plagiarism, and payment. They also have a support forum which appears to be semi-active. I believe other members can help answer any questions you may have about writing there long-term.
It also appears that they are a legitimate site that does pay on a monthly basis. So, if you are really desperate for some extra cash, you could join. I'd recommend Textbroker, Associated Content, or just about any other site you could possibly find to this one, though.
It appears that Niner Niner once paid more for there posts - I've read anywhere from $1.00-$5.00. But, that's a thing of the past. Now, you'd be better off starting your own free blogspot blog and posting there. I guarantee that even with no promotion and little traffic, you'd eventually make the .50 per post that they pay, and you'd still own your own content.
At the time of this writing, Niner Niner is offering a $5.00 sign-on bonus for anyone who joins. I joined so I could investigate for this post, but I will NOT be writing there. Not even the free $5.00 could make this one appealing to me.
Disclaimer
I don't mean for this review to sound so harsh. It's just hard for me to believe that a site could pay it's writers so little and still have writers at all. I hate to see writers working for pennies when they could make more on Associated Content. That's the first time I think I've ever said those words!
I do maintain that it would be okay for international writers because of the currency exchange and the lack of international writing jobs. However, for US writers - you have much better options available to you, so go apply for them instead!

Is there a site similar to this one that pays a decent wage?
When I first began dabbling into freelance writing, I wrote for Niner Niner. At the time, I believe the minimum payout was $10. I racked up about $30 and never received a payment. I sent emails to the company several times, for several months and never received payment. This site is just not worth it; it's the ultimate scam.
What a great blog! I love all the information you have.
I'm a children's author. I have a writing blog at:
http://ignitetowrite.blogspot.com/
and a blog for animal lovers at
http://animaltalk4u.blogspot.com
I'd love to have you visit either or both!
@gunnar - Not that I'm aware, but I'll be sure and post if I ever find one. :)
@Jazmin - I was debating whether or not to put this post in the "scam" category. Lol. But, from visiting the message boards, it appears most people do get paid eventually. I'm so sorry that happened to you, and thanks for letting us know. :)
@Jan - Thanks! I'm glad you found it helpful. I'll be glad to visit your blogs, as well. :)
Hi Willow--Thanks for the great post. I actively campaign against these kinds of sites and urge writers to avoid them like the plague and seek only living wage writing jobs. Sites paying "wages" like these hurt all writers. OK, off my soapbox for now!
Guilty as charged, I have gotten paid several times from them. They have a parenting blog that is super easy for me to type up something in between longer (real) articles on other sites.
@Mary Anne - Thanks for stopping by! I agree with you 100%. We've got to work together to get rid of (or change) sites who think this is a fair wage for writing ANYTHING.
@esper - I still think you'd make more money taking your articles (which are well written) to ANY other site. But, at least you can verify that they do pay. Good luck to you! :)
Hi, Willow. I have read some of your posts on this blog, include this one. And I love your blog.
Anyway, where should I put my writing if I want to earn money from it? Do you think site like niner niner is good? Or I should make a blog for it?
I have done a detailed review of Niner Niner Collaborative Blogs and you can find it on virtualvedas.info
