These include DoItYourself.com and other home improvement websites, Vetinfo.com and other pet related websites, Fitday.com and other health and fitness related websites, Loan.com and other finance related websites, and Autos.com and other automotive websites.
I have no experience with this company, but they appear to be legit and they are hiring writers at the time of this post. They have many different websites for which they hire on a regular basis, so check the careers page frequently to see what's available.
The rate of pay is $4.00 and up, depending on the article, for all of the opportunities listed below. There's no indication of a minimum word count or any other requirements, so it's hard to judge if this would be worth it. However, it wouldn't hurt to apply if you have experience in some of these areas. Many of the listings require previous experience writing on the topic, but some do not.
If you're interested in applying for any of the Internet Brands job openings, visit the job listings pages below. And, be sure to check the careers page frequently if you miss out on these.
UPDATE: According to several people I've spoken to since this post, Internet Brands pays up to $10 for most articles, and work seems to be reliable.

Thank you for this info. As always, great details and ideas.

I applied to Internet Brands and once I emailed requested more information, I got an application via Word doc. After filling out a short survey outlining your experience, you are given four different sub-categories and asked to write a 400 - 500 word sample on one of the categories (you get to choose). Then you must also send in an article of "your choice that best represents your writing style and ability". You must attach the two samples and the application and email it back to them.
I inquired about whether or not you are compensated for the original sample on one of the categories that they want you to write from. I received an email back letting me know that "The sample is reviewed by one of our content mangers and is used to determine if your writing style and skill are what we are looking for, we do not publish it and it is completely for internal purposes. Unfortunately we do not provide any compensation for the writing sample."
So in effect, even though you send them an article of yours that demonstrates your style and ability, you must create something original for them on one of their chosen topics and you don't receive payment for it.
For a starting wage of $4 per article, this seems like a waste of time. I thought I would share what I found out though after reading your post and applying. I hope it helps a writer make a decision on applying.
@betterbody - Thanks for stopping by!
@Nikki - Thanks so much for your comment. I'm sure this will help other writers decide if they want to apply or not. For many of us, creating unique articles for free is definitely not worth it, or even possible. However, someone might find the effort worth it if they really need another gig. Thanks so much for the information! :)
Nice find, thanks!
Hi,
Just found your blog last week. It's exactly--and I mean exactly--what I've been looking for. Thanks so much for your effort and generosity.
I started with Internet Brands about one month ago. So far, it's been fine. I write for the vetinfo site, so it's a lot of dog breath and vomit articles, but on the plus side, I've learned to spell diarrhea correctly, every single time.
Anyway, the articles are easy--$4 for 150 words (mostly numbered lists and brief how-tos), $10 for 400 words. They provide keywords and related keywords. Sometimes they're a bit hard to work in, but so it goes.
Unlike Demand Studios (where I also write), they don't require references or resources so it's faster. It's also easier to add your article--you just paste it in like Textbroker.
You can only check one article out at a time. The list of choices is long--literally hundreds--so there's always something.
The people at IB have been very responsive; they answer emails promptly and have even changed a few titles for me...ones that just didn't make sense.
They pay monthly. First payday is July 14, so I'll let you know.
Hi, earlygirl. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with Internet Brands. They sound like a good company to work for, and so far I haven't received any negative reports. Please do let us know if the payment is on time! Thanks!
Any news about this one?
Hi there!
I write for Internet Brands, both financial articles (for www.finweb.com) and DIY articles (for www.doityourself.com). They pay $4 for 250 words, and $10 for 400-600. I am very happy working with them - they are very professional and the content management system is great!
Much recommended!

Well I got through the 3 tests they sent me but some stuff in the contract makes me very leery. I am an international writer by the way. There's a form that asks for a 'Void Check' to be attached. Why would they want this?
Any idea?
Hi Sarah!
I don't write for Internet Brands, but they are the same company that owns the Work at Home Mom Forum and they are completely legitimate.
The only reason I can think of for a void check is if they are going to be paying you via direct deposit. Many employers ask for this information to send the money directly to your bank account. If you're an international writer, they may not offer payment via PayPal for you.
If you have more concerns, I would encourage you to visit the WAHM forums and ask around. There are a lot of nice ladies there that have experience writing for the site.
Good luck!
Hi Natasha
I have just started writing for Internet Brands. Love the amount of work they have and topics to choose from. They sent me thecorrect international writer contract which didn't have the Void check business. They pay through Paypal - I hope on time. It was great to get mf first 2 articles approved without any revisions -- except for the second one (I write for travel) which asks me to add the full addresses of places to visit -- but there is no Edit button anywhere. How does one edit? Many thanks for any tips. And are payments on time?
Hi Sarandipity,
I'm glad to hear you're having a good experience with the site. I don't write for them so I can't answer your questions about editing or payment. You might check the WAHM forums or post your question there. Good luck!
@ Natasha : They pay on every 14th...
@ Willow: They don't offer any upfront :)
I use to write for them, but got better opportunities later, so I quit.
Yes, they do pay and it's completely legit. Nothing to worry about at all :)
@vijeta
you said you got better opportunities..do you have the links for any sites that are hiring?
