I couldn't login to eHow for months and I couldn't figure out why. I moved to a rural location and we had to go with satellite internet. I could login to my eHow account just fine from the library, on dial-up, and anywhere else that wasn't through my satellite internet connection.
When I entered my username and password, I would just be redirected back to the login page with no explanation, over and over again. It was like eHow didn't even recognize that I was trying to login.
I contacted eHow, and of course, they had no idea what was going on. The last I heard from them, they were forwarding my case to the "appropriate internal team", whatever that means. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I posted about my problem on the WAHM.com forum, and I've had several people contact me who have had the same problem. So, I've decided to post the steps on my blog to help others who might be in the same situation. It took me weeks to figure this out on my own, but here's what's happening...
HughesNet Satellite Internet Service comes with a program called TurboPage. While I don't know much about how it works, I do know that it is there to supposedly make browsing the internet faster. (I have found that this is NOT the case, however.)
Anyway, TurboPage blocks eHow cookies, for some reason well beyond my understanding, making it impossible to login to your account. I don't know why this only happens with eHow, but I have found no other website that this happens with. The only thing I know is that the following steps FIX THE PROBLEM!
I am assuming that you have the HughesNet HN9000 Modem. If you have the HN7000, I would assume the steps would be similar, but can't say for sure. The steps here are for the HN9000.
HOW TO FIX THE EHOW LOGIN PROBLEM WITH SATELLITE INTERNET

NOTE: Don't be afraid you're going to mess anything up. I constantly keep TurboPage disabled and never have a problem browsing the web. I once had a problem with Internet Explorer (which I only use if I absolutely HAVE to) going really slow. I just went and enabled TurboPage using the steps above, and everything went back to normal. When I was done, I disabled it again.
You can always enable/disable it any time you need to, so don't be afraid to do it.
Also, any time your modem is reset, unplugged, or power cycled, TurboPage is automatically enabled, so you'll have to go in and disable after this happens. Now, what are you still doing here? Go write some eHow articles! :)
- Type 192.168.01 into your browser address bar to access your modem's advanced pages. Press enter and you'll be taken to a page that says "HN9000 System Control Center".
- Underneath the green and blue buttons, you'll see a gray bar. The words "What do these controls mean?" are followed by a tiny picture of a little man on the bar. Click the little man to be taken to the HughesNet HN9000 modem's advanced pages. (Again, I would assume this is similar for the HN7000, but can't say for sure.)
- You should now be on a page entitled "Advanced Configuration and Statistics." On the sidebar to the left, Click on "TurboPage".
- Now you'll be taken to a page with not much going on. Click the "TurboPage Configuration" on the left side bar, under "TurboPage".
- Now, you're taken to the TurboPage commands page. Click the radio button next to "Disable", and then click "Submit" to disable Turbo Page.
- A simple message will now display - "Command Executed....." That's it! You've successfully disabled TurboPage. Now, go login to your eHow account!

Kind of unrelated to this post, but I just saw you posted your first article today on Infobarrel.com and I wanted to drop by and say thanks for contributing.
I'll try to swing by from time to time to check out your blog!

I wished I had been given this bit of information a long time ago. After the last major updates to eHow, I was left with the inability to log in (yes, I have HughesNet). I attempted to log in about once a week for almost 3 months with no luck. Then one day, for whatever reason, I could log in again. I still don't know what happened, but it was a frustrating few months to say the least!
I don't have the little man icon on my hughesnet page
