Scam Alert! GetPaidWritingArticles.Com - Beware!

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

I posted an opportunity for the website GetPaidWritingArticles.Com a few weeks ago and I have been scammed!! I just wanted to warn my fellow writers to stay away from this site! While I didn't lose any money (thank goodness), they certainly do NOT pay for your articles.

I submitted an article to the site. Two days later, on December 11, I received this email:

Greetings,

Thank you for your submission to Get Paid Writing Articles.

Thank you for your patience. Our approval team is currently processing your submission.

You can expect a decision of approval within 1 business day of receiving this email.

If you have not received a response after that time, please reply to this email for assistance.

If you registered at http://getpaidwritingarticles.com using the email address associated with your Paypal account then no further action is required on your part.
If that email address differs, please reply to this email with the appropriate email address that is to, potentially, receive payment VIA Paypal upon approval of your submission.

Thank you,
Get Paid Writing Articles

I replied to the email on December 13 advising them that I have not received a decision of approval. That was 10 days ago and I have yet to hear back from them. They are not responding to additional emails and they still have my article. I'll be checking to see if it shows up online anywhere. I sincerely hope they don't try to publish it without paying me.

Anyway, writer's beware of this site. If anything more comes of this, I'll post an update.

I just signed up today but haven't submitted anything because there were just too many unanswered questions. How much do they pay? I assume they would be buying all rights? What on earth on they doing with the articles?

The ad that I found the site listing in says to email the CEO, Jim with any questions. I haven't been able to find any contact information or way to email 'Jim'. The site's FAQ page is blank and there is nothing comes up for the search term, 'help'.

It just has a very ghost-like quality that made me nervous, although there's nothing they can take from me (as far as I know). It's not like they have my credit card number.

Still, I would like to know how you make out with these people and whether or not your article is printed somewhere.

I had wondered if they are using the submissions for an article spinner. The ad said that they want anything - your kids school papers, an article about your day, anything.

I really don't get it. It would be a ludicrous way to farm email addys.

Anyway, best of luck with this. Right now, I think I'll go change my email address in the account. It just dawned on me that I didn't see any way of cancelling.

I've yet to see my article printed anywhere, but I'm keeping a close watch on it. I don't trust these people at all. I also saw the same ad with the mysterious "Contact Jim" notice. I really don't know what they're doing. Someone is obviously receiving the articles because I was sent an initial confirmation. I'll post if anything else happens.

I really do wonder if they're spinning them or having them rewritten so the authors don't find them.

After I read this blog, I returned to the site and tried to find articles but there aren't any. All that's on there are contrived testimonials with text ads running in the middle of sentences.

I think you're sense of mistrust is wise and I'm so happy that you posted about it. I couldn't find anything on them, which is why I was going to take a chance.

Hope it works out for you.

What happened with this?

Not a thing. I never heard back from them and they haven't used my article anywhere. I'm not sure what the deal is with this company, but I'd stay far away from them. :)
